However, there is an alternate hypothesis, that this is a deliberate policy. In the one-year Hungarian hyperinflation of Aug 1945 to Jul 1946, prices rose at a rate of about 19% per day, which AFAIK makes it the record hyperinflation. The inflation was the result of a deliberate Communist policy of destroying the middle and upper classes.
