Things Omar taught me today

1. Learning stands on a 3-legged stool: knowledge, experience and reason.

2. About the students in his college who change majors: There is no shame. Going to university is about finding out what you excel at and enjoy. One strength of a university is that there are many majors to choose from

3. For students with weak high school backgrounds the university is doing a very good job of placing them in the pre-university courses in mathematics and English that they need to succeed at university. His collegel at the university is doing a very good job of providing its freshmen with an orientation to the major, the curriculum, the college, the university and what the profession is about (the orientation is a 2 credit hour course).
