Appointing women to Sharjah Council hailed - Khaleej Times

QUOTE. SHARJAH — The historic and bold step taken by His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, in appointing women to the Sharjah Municipal Council will continue even after the electoral system is introduced to elect members to the council...."I don't think any democratic practice can be more genuine than what the Ruler has for us," she said, and quoted from Dr Shaikh Sultan's speech: "You are responsible .. and you are my partners in bearing the burden.. ssist me when I am right and correct me when I am wrong .. correction should be by advice." UNQUOTE

Hmmm. That first sentence says women will continue to be appointed after the electoral systems. Is that what it was supposed to mean? Will women be allowed to run for office?
