In hot water, for free

In a previous post (follow link above) I discussed water pressure in the Emirates. This led desert island boy to comment on his second hand knowledge of water pressure in Bahrain where his father has first hand experience with municipal water system design. Take a look at his cogent comment and my followup comment.

desert island boy also mentioned that in the summer his experience has been that the water coming from the tank is so hot that he has to fill the bathtub and lets it cool a bit before washing.
Observe that the problem exists for those with a rooftop reservoir for the cold water tap. What to do if you want to take a shower instead of a bath? Observe that you have two reservoirs. One is indoor, the other is outdoor. The indoor reservoir is your hotwater tank. But what to do when the outdoor reservoir also becomes a hotwater tank due to solar heating? Simple: turn off the heat to the indoor hotwater tank (and notice that indoors is airconditioned thus chilling the water going into the official hotwater tank). Then assume that the hot tap is the cold tap and the cold tap is the hot tap.

Voila! Problem solved.

This is standard practice in the Emirates.
