India: Don't blame us for underage camel jockeys - 7Days: "'Neither the embassy of India nor the Consulate General of India in Dubai has had any information about Indian children being abused as camel jockeys in the UAE and, moreover no such case has been brought to our notice by the local authorities in spite of specific requests for any information that they may have on this issue.' The embassy said the last case involving a child that came to its notice was in May 1997, when a 11-year old Indian child who had accompanied his father was used as a camel jockey by his UAE sponsor. Children from the seven nations will have to carry their own passports by June to prevent them being smuggled into the UAE. The Interior Ministry said children had been brought into the country in the past by being falsely recorded on their parents' passport."
