Car Import Tariffs Decline :: Iran Daily
100% tariff reduced to just 95%

Quote:
Following several months of heated discussions about whether or not to ease car imports, the parliament has finally decided to cut import tariffs from the current 100 to 95 percent and eliminate the 9-percent license plate duties in a bid to encourage the business.

Mohammad Hossein Staki, a lawmaker from Isfahan, told Moj news agency that high import tariffs will increase car prices and reduce projected car import revenues.

“An increase in car prices will lead to a rise in inflation,“ he said, adding that the Parliament’s Industries and Mines Commission has decided to cut car import tariffs to prevent recession.
