Bush's budget proposals on the environment - Sierra Club

They say the devil is in the details. And from the looks of this administration's budget, the devil has been very busy lately.

(via, Dad.) The Sierra Club is an example of the kind of vigorous voluntary associations needed for a healthy civil society. Their ideas and their investigative reporting go into the mix of ideas and information needed to keep elected officials and government officials honest.

As the Arab Human Development Reports observe, the state of civil society is not good in much of the Arab world, but it is improving in many places. You'll see examples in future posts.
