UAEU Prof: 'Most ministers and officials abuse their office' - Gulf News

Dr Abdul Rahim Al Shahin, a lecturer at UAE University's political science section, said several government officials unlawfully abuse their position. They get away with it despite the constitution's provisions that state that protection of public resources is the duty of every citizen. "UAE's laws and constitution prohibit officials from assuming business and public office. Article 62 of the Constitution states that ministers must not assume any professional, commercial or financial profession nor enter into any deal with the federal or local governments nor assume membership on a commercial or financial company board during their time in office."
