Sharjah water authority criticized - Khaleej Times

The editorial is correct enough in stating that the water authority could anticipate the increased demand for water as the days get hotter.

It is correct in saying water is necessary for life.

It is dead wrong not to state that water has high value uses and low value uses (such as running the tap when you shave, turning the emirate green or, even, flushing the toilet after every use). Sharjah water authority should charge more for water, especially during the summer. And it should be equally vigilant in its bill collection from everyone, regardless of nationality. Students tell me that the latter is not happening.

As far as I am aware, locals in all Emirates pay much less for electricity and water than expats do.
