Foreign brides and extravagant spending on weddings of Emiratis - Khaleej Times

FUJAIRAH — The Parents Council of Hamad bin Abdulla Al Sharqi School in Fujairah has urged the Marriage Fund to support mass weddings in Fujairah and to discourage national youth from marrying foreign women mainly because of the prohibitive cost of a wedding.
Shaikh Abdulla Al Sharqi said the extravagant spending in marriages had only resulted in problems among youth, often leading to debt traps. The high cost involved in a wedding forced the youth to prefer marriage with foreign women, which would have a negative impact on society, he said, and asked the Marriage Fund to take measures to reverse this trend.
