Abu Dhabi says employers are gaming the absconding employee rules - Khaleej Times
THE Department of Naturalisation and Residency in Abu Dhabi has warned employers against putting up a false notice of absconding farmers and domestic servants from their companies in order to get fresh visas for bringing in new workers under their sponsorship.
After bringing in new workers, such employers submit fresh applications to the department concerned, cancelling their earlier notice on absconding workers.
This is indeed a serious matter, as the photographs of the so-called absconding workers appear in local dailies, whereas in actual fact, such workers have not absconded, but were asked to do so by their sponsors and employers.
In other news, the esteemed U.S. institutions of higher learning that train future barracudas also game the system. And, the US News & World Report is trying to stay one step of them. After all, you can’t sell the annual Law School Ranking issue to lawyer wannabees if the ranking loses its credibility.
