Praise for UAE Labour Ministry conflict of interest rules - Khaleej Times
If the white collared employees, who are on the payrolls of the ministry, are involved in business activities like labour supply, typing, photocopying and clearance of transactions, there is bound to be some partisan approach when applications are received pertaining to these areas.
Apprehensions that the employees would mount pressure on a particular application are not entirely misplaced. Such action would be against the principle of competition in private enterprise, since the balance would be tilted heavily in favour of the establishment owned or supported by the employees. In such a scenario, competitors who do not enjoy such privileges would be pushed out of contention.
Excellent. The Ministry is moving in the right direction, and the Khaleej Times has got the economics right - this time.
